The technology industry, which has seen incredible growth over the last several years due to nearly every industry adapting its services and devices, has also gotten smacked by COVID-19.
Job listings in the Kansas City area, which has seen a steady rise of those positions every month, are down, according to a recent report by the KC Tech Council.
Nearly every position typically listed in the local industry was down in the double digits, according to the council. There were 55 less listings for software engineers from March, dropping to 881. Project-manager positions were down by 34,hitting 878. Senior software-engineer positions fell to 688, dropping by 27.
Said ECCO Select’s Lindsay Habben in a commentary along with the report, does see a bright spot for tech, though: “As remote work may be the new “norm” for many companies across the nation for 2020, information technology will be in the spotlight moving forward as new communication and collaboration platforms become increasingly in demand.”
