Kansas City, Kansas-based developer, Eastside Innovation, has been selected to redevelop the former Indian Springs Mall near Interstate 635.

During a planning commission meeting last week, the Unified Government of Wyandotte County and Kansas City, Kansas selected Eastside Innovations—and co-developer Arnold Development Group—to redevelop the site. The new development will rename the site Midtown Station.

Erik Murray is the lead developer for Eastside Innovations while Jonathan Arnold will lead the Arnold Development Group.

The proposed site plan would include renovations to incorporate low-rise and upper-level residential space, retail, food and beverage services, a fitness area, a grocery store, daycare, innovation center and a convection center hotel.

The redevelopment plan would include:

  • 1,475 apartment units
  • 280,910 square feet of retail space
  • 2,900 garage parking spaces
  • 250 parking spaces
  • 63 single family homes
  • 150 townhomes
  • 168 hotel rooms
  • 31,842 square-foot innovation center with meeting rooms
  • 18,085 square-foot grocery store
  • 15,934 square-foot greenhouse

The project is estimated to cost up to $700 million.

The UG will next need to create a development agreement. Developers hope to break ground on the redevelopment project by summer 2025 with the first and second phases of the project completed by 2026 and 2027 respectively.

The Indian Springs Mall was demolished in 2016.
