Temporarily dubbed The Tracks, plans call for the construction of roughly 193 apartment units – mostly studio and one bedroom – and a parking garage. A portion of parking space will also be shared with nearby offices.
Milhaus is currently under contract to buy the site for the estimated $52 million project. A rezoning request for development plans will go before the City Plan Commission next week on April 6.
If given city approval to build, Milhaus could start construction on The Tracks as early as Q3 or early Q4 of 2021. Under that schedule, the apartment complex could be complete by fall 2023.
The apartments mostly are concentrated in the upper five floors, with the remaining units bundled in on the same level as the two lower parking stories.
To be built at the south end of Wyandotte and 22nd streets, the complex would provide surrounding views of Union Station, Liberty Memorial and below, the Kansas City Terminal Railroad tracks.
