Wealth-management firm Creative Planning is set to break ground on its Overland Park headquarters-campus expansion. The company is adding 108,000 square feet to its footprint, bringing the total square footage to 335,750 square feet.
Creative Planning moved into its current space, marked by its glass design that utilizes natural light, in October of last year, and at that time, management said that a third building would be a possibility. The campus, at 5440 W. 110th St., is also the headquarters of HCA Midwest Health.
VanTrust Real Estate and Burns & McDonnell are building and designing the new facility, called Creative Campus III, and JLL is will lease its space to outside companies. The development is set for completion in the second quarter of 2021.
“Creative Planning has laid out a unique office project in Creative Campus that meets the evolving demands of office tenants looking to grow or establish themselves in our region,” said Ryan Schneider, executive vice president of JLL. “Creative Campus III will provide a collaborative work environment that cultivates creativity and employee engagement that will help industry leading companies attract and retain top talent.”
Like the other campus buildings, Creative Campus III will feature a glass exterior and make use of natural light. Tenants will have access to a cafeteria in one of the other buildings, Creative Campus I. Average class A office rents in South Johnson County were at $26.99 per square foot during the third quarter, according to Cushman & Wakefield.
Creative Planning has about $43.4 billion of assets under management over 98,000 accounts, which makes the company fourth-largest wealth advisory enterprise in the Kansas City metro area.
