Overland Park-based Creative Planning has acquired Coe Financial Services, an RIA firm based in Wichita with $126 million in assets under management.
The firm provides financial planning and investment-management services.
Coe was founded in 1983 by managing director Richard Coe.
“Richard Coe has dedicated nearly four decades of his professional career building an independent wealth management firm serving clients in the Wichita area and beyond,” said Peter Mallouk, chief executive officer of Creative Planning, in a press release. “He has built a high touch, planning oriented practice that fits in well with the Creative Planning approach.”
Portland, Ore,-based consulting Succession Resource Group (SRG) assisted Coe with the sale of his business, which had been pursued since last year. “The sudden market decline and COVID-19 pandemic threw an unexpected curve ball,” said Kristen Grau, executive vice president of SRG,in a press release. “But, both Creative Planning and Richard felt the deal was right.”
Creative Planning is in the midst of growing its Overland Park campus. In November it acquired a Washington, D.C.-area wealth management firm called OptiFour.
