Kansas vaccine access expands

Starting next week, the state of Kansas plans to extend access to the COVID-19 vaccine by shipping doses to more doctor’s offices and clinics statewide. The health department said hundreds of healthcare providers have already signed up to help vaccinate people.

Kansas has announced it soon plans to alter the way it’s conducting its COVID-19 vaccination plan.

The change could make many people more comfortable with getting a vaccine, according to Secretary for the Kansas Department of Health and Environment, Lee Norman.

Hundreds of doctor’s offices, clinics and other sites across the state of Kansas signed up to help vaccinate people, Norman said. They haven’t been given vaccines yet because there just hasn’t been enough supply.

“We are going to do a lot of additional providers alerting this week, because we expect 100,000 additional Johnson and Johnson doses to be ordered this week and to come in next week,” Norman said.
