COVID-19 reveals fast-growing careers, emerging remote jobs

Research on over 50 different career categories from job search website FlexJobs pinpoints 10 careers offering promising remote jobs in 2021. The categories highlighted have grown at a rate of at least 25 percent since from March 2020 to Dec. 2020.

A variety of remote jobs emerged in 2020 as a result of COVID-19.

The website FlexJobs analyzed over 50 career categories, finding 10 offering remote jobs that have grown at a high rate since the pandemic started.

The 10 categories noted by FlexJobs have grown more than 25 percent from March 2020 to Dec. 2020, emerging as promising fields for remote workers in 2021.

Although COVID-19 created significant disruption for the traditional office workplace, it has allowed better access to remote jobs across many career fields.

More than half of companies have hired new staff remotely, according to FlexJobs. According to the website, U.S. Census data finds that in major metro areas such as San Francisco, Washington, D.C., Boston, and Seattle, more than half of the labor force is working from home.
