COVID-19 Restrictions Lifted Tomorrow

The White House announced last week that vaccine requirements for travel will expire on Thursday, May 11, 2023. 

The Biden Administration is lifting the vaccination requirement for international air travelers. Fully vaccinated international air travelers will still need a full vaccination to enter the United States.

In addition, the World Health Organization (WHO) announced on Friday that COVID-19 is no longer a public health emergency. This news coincides with the decreasing number of COVID-19 deaths and hospitalizations in the past months.

COVID-19 statistic trackers such as the nonprofit Mid-America Regional Council data hub with be no longer updated on May 11. 

For the Kansas City region, number of active COVID-19 cases has dropped considerably since January 2023. January 6 was reported to have the most cases for the region with new 54 active, however, as of May 8, only five new cases were confirmed.
