There is bill being proposed in the Kansas Legislature that would limit the lawsuit liability business owners would face from legal action related to COVID-19.
Proposed by the Kansas Chamber of Commerce, the bill could be considered May 21, when the legislature convenes for an emergency meeting.
“Those businesses who carefully adhere to government guidelines and regulations for the safety of their employees, vendors and customers should not be subjected to the threat of frivolous lawsuits,” said Alan Cobb, president and chief executive officer of the chamber.
However, Cobb said the legislation should not protect businesses that are shunning safety guidelines and acting irresponsibly in the face of the pandemic.
