Country Club Plaza to be Officially Sold Friday

Dallas-based firm Highland Park Village Partners will officially be the new owners of the Country Club Plaza on Friday, June 28.

The Kansas City Country Club Plaza District Council has confirmed the Country Club Plaza will officially sold on Friday.

The Plaza District Council confirmed Tuesday that the Dallas-based firm Highland Park Village Partners will finalize the purchase from the previous owners Taubman Center Inc. and Macerich Co.

The Country Club Plaza will be officially sold on Friday, June 28.

The former owners of the historic retail center originally purchased it in 2016 for $660 million.

An online newsletter published Tuesday announced the property’s new ownership would arrive soon.

“Prospective buyers Ray Washburne and Stephen Summers are well aware of the challenges they will face due to deferred maintenance, the state of retail, and other social and cultural factors that have challenged the area,” president of the Plaza District Council, Kate Marshall said.
