The Mayor and City Council have hired a new City Manager. Brian Platt will become the 17th City Manager in Kansas City’s history. Resolution 200933 states that Mr. Platt is “to begin serving as such no later than January 4, 2021, contingent upon the Mayor and Brian Platt executing an employment contract, subject to Council approval, prior to this beginning date of service”
Mayor Quinton Lucas had recommended to the City Council that Brian Platt, of Jersey City, NJ, be hired as the next City Manager.

Previously, the search had been narrowed to four finalists who visited Kansas City for in-person interviews. In addition to those visits, we asked our residents to fill out surveys to provide feedback on the finalists.
