Coping with COVID: Online dashboard launches to show how COVID-19 funds are spent in Kansas

By Madison Parry

A new, online investment dashboard tracking how Coronavirus Relief Funds (CRF) are being spent in Kansas was launched late last week. The dashboard allows users to view how over $1 billion in federal CARES Act funds will be used or by location served.

The launch of a new online investment dashboard now allows individuals to look at how COVID-19 funds are being spent in the state.

Just over $1 billion in federal CARES Act investments were approved by the Governor’s SPARK taskforce and State Finance Council, the dashboard now allowing users to view investments based on how the funds will be used or by location served.

Kansas Gov Laura Kelly made the announcement of the launch late last week on Friday, Oct. 30.

“Kansans deserve to know how their tax dollars are being spent and this online tool makes that information easily accessible to all,” Kelly said in a Friday news release.

Around $400 million was distributed to Kansas counties through SPARK, and remaining funds are being administered by statewide organizations to provide Kansans programs and services, the release said. Not all funds have been spent yet, and the dashboard will continue to be updated as more dollars are invested.

The dashboard can be viewed here.
