Coping with COVID: Missouri seven-day average of new cases on downturn, sees six-month low

After months of spikes in COVID-19 cases in Missouri, the state’s seven-day moving average is showing case counts not seen since July 2020. On Thursday, the state’s weekly average reported 846 daily cases, the first time it has dipped below 900 since July 20.

The COVID-19 case count is holding steady on a downward trend in Missouri. A number of spikes over the holidays have slowed, the state’s seven-day moving average displaying a decline on Jan. 10.

Most recently, Missouri’s seven-day moving average bumped down to a number not seen in nearly seven months, since July 2020.

On Feb. 11, the seven-day moving average sat at 846 daily new COVID-19 cases. The last time Missouri saw the average fall below 900 was on July 20, when it reported 825 average cases.

The following day on July 21, the weekly moving average kicked up to 923 and did not fall below that number until Thursday, Feb. 11.
