Coping with COVID: Missouri reports 8.7 percent of population now has first dose of COVID-19 vaccine

An update on COVID-19 vaccine administration reveals progress in Missouri as the state reports 8.7 percent of its population has received the first dose as of Monday morning. This now puts the state ahead of Kansas, which reports 7.5 percent of its population has been vaccinated.

Missouri no longer holds last place nationally in the percent of state residents that have received the COVID-19 vaccine.

The portion of Missouri residents that have had at least one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine has risen to 8.7 percent, according to a Monday update from the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services.

This does not include the percentage of residents that have received the second dose.

While Missouri vaccination progress remains low on a national scale, its efforts to increase vaccinations have put it ahead of Kansas.

A Friday update from the Kansas Department of Health and Environment shows said 7.5% of the population has been vaccinated. The state has yet to provide a Monday update, which could put it ahead of Missouri.
