The Kansas City metro, the state of Kansas and other regions of the U.S. reported record numbers of new COVID-19 this past weekend.
The seven-county Kansas City metro reported 5,845 new cases from Oct. 31 to Nov. 6, an increase of more than 33 percent from last week’s reported 4,389 new cases.
Metro counties include Johnson, Leavenworth and Wyandotte counties in Kansas along with Cass, Clay, Jackson and Platte counties and Kansas City, Mo.
There have now been nearly 65,000 cases and 900 deaths attributed to COVID-19 since the start of the pandemic.
Kansas and Missouri also set single-day records Friday. Missouri has now set a new single-day record four days in a row.
For the sixth straight week, Kansas reported a record number of new cases, topping out at 12,594 during the last seven days, an increase of more than 44 percent from last week.
