Coping with COVID: Missouri case numbers continue to increase, state health officials report no new deaths in Missouri on Sunday

Missouri added just over 1,500 new cases on Saturday and Sunday combined after a week of daily updates showing large new case numbers, which officials attributed to a backlog of testing.

Missouri added around 1,500 cases over the weekend, according to reporting by KMBC 9 News.

Over the weekend Missouri saw the addition of 1,517 cases after a week full of large case number gains, which officials attributed to a backlog of testing.

On Saturday, Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services reported 935 cases of COVID-19. On Sunday another 582 new cases were added, taking the state’s total number of cases to 51,850.

As of Sunday mid-afternoon, Missouri health officials reported no new deaths related to COVID-19 in the state for that day.

Health officials last reported that 812 patients have been hospitalized due to COVID-19, reports KMBC, though the state of Missouri does not list how many people have recovered from COVID-19.
