A recent increase in the number of COVID-19 cases sweeping the U.S. and the Kansas City region has led to a decision by the Jackson County Health Department that it will be temporarily closing its clinic,
The closure will last through the Thanksgiving holiday until Friday, Nov. 27.
Jackson County Health Department has said the clinic’s closing does not include scheduled drive-thru flu clinics.
According to Missouri’s Show Me Recovery Plan website, Jackson County has 13,120 COVID-19 cases as of Friday afternoon. Of the county’s 153 deaths since the start of COVID-19, two have occurred within the last seven days.
Data from the state’s website also shows there have been 6,935 tests of the 165,266 taken in Jackson County so far.
