Copaken Brooks has broken ground on its apartment complex development in the Crossroads and announced a new name for the building.
Located at 1818 Main Street, The Refinery will be a 16-story apartment tower featuring 54 studios, 87 one-bedroom and 6 two-bedroom apartments. Around 10% of the Refinery’s units are reserved for households that earn up to 60% of the Area Median Income.
“At Copaken Brooks, we are passionate about creating spaces that leave a lasting impact on our community,” Principal at Copaken Brooks, Jon Copaken, said in a release Monday. “With the support of Generator, Centric, Port KC, and Enterprise Bank, the Refinery will be a symbol of progress, connectivity, and power of collaboration in Kansas City.”
The development also includes approximately 1,000 square feet of ground-level commercial space.
The project is expected to open in late 2026.
The building will also include a four-level parking garage with 113 spaces. Copaken Brooks also noted the building’s prime location next to the KC Streetcar.
