Construction Begins On Merriam Grand Station Lofts

Apartments for the Merriam Grand Station development project broke ground and began construction.

Development of the Merriam Grand Station Lofts is one step closer to completion as construction on the project’s apartment complexes recently broke ground. 

The project will be 6 acres large with a 505,000-square-foot space to bring 361 apartment units to Merriam, Kansas. The $136 million development project was approved in August 2022. 

The apartments will comprise of two four-story buildings as well as 73,000 square feet of below-grade parking, featuring a courtyard pool, pet wash station, game rooms and electric-vehicle charging stations, according to a press release.

Located near Shawnee Mission Parkway and approximately east of Interstate 35, demolition of the old Kmart building took place last year. With demolition complete the crew can commence on their next phase. 

Construction for the project is set to complete in 2025. 

Drake Development LLC is developing Merriam Grand Station while Brinkmann Constructors is building the lofts, according to a release.
