Conexon hired industry veteran John Walburn as its new chief operating officer, who previously held telecommunication leadership roles in Arizona.
Walburn joins Conexon from Arizona where he served as vice president of operations at broadband communications company Cable One. Walburn also served as divisional vice president at Cable One.
Prior, he served several years in various leadership roles at Sullivan, Missouri-based Fidelity Connections and at Illinois-based Consolidated Communications for the company’s Leawood location, according to a Tuesday release.
“Operations are at the heart of how every broadband industry leader serves its customers,” Walburn said in a release. “As COO, I am excited to turn my focus to implementing strategies at Conexon that achieve significant results for both our business and our customers as we build a better future across rural America.”
In his new role, Walburn oversees network operations, development, construction, regulatory and funding divisions. Additionally, he will work closely with chief financial officer Matthew Blain and chief customer experience officer Abby Carere—who was recently appointed to her current role in July—to create strategic initiatives that connect underserved parts of America.
Conexon ranked No. 7 in Ingram’s 2024 Corporate Report 100. The company experienced nearly 672% growth since 2020 and generated nearly $240 million in gross revenue last year.
