Concern About a New COVID-19 Strain

A new strain of COVID-19 that is believed to have started in Europe in February and is considered highly contagious is spreading throughout the United States, according to a new study.

It shows a similarity to influenza in that it can mutate, however, unlike the flu, there are no vaccines to keep up with the mutations.

The report, which came out of the Los Alamos National Laboratory, says that if COVID-19 does not subside during the summer, much like the flu annually, it could further mutate, making the effort to find a vaccine more difficult.
