The Economic Development Corporation of Kansas City (EDCKC) is distributing small business grants in Clay County through the end of November. Applications are open to businesses negatively impacted by COVID-19.
This is the third phase of CARES Act funding, two prior rounds of funding totaling roughly $3 million in small business grants.
“Small businesses are the lifeblood of our great city and as the economic engine of KCMO, supporting the community via these grants has been not only rewarding, but squarely in our mission,” said EDCKC’s Interim President and CEO T’Risa McCord.
EDCKC has partnered with Kansas City and Clay County Economic Development Council to extend assistance to small, for-profit businesses deemed nonessential and/or disproportionately impacted by public health restrictions such as retail, personal care or hospitality-oriented businesses.
“This tranche is $400,000. Now, these grants will run anywhere from $5,000 to $30,000 because what we’re looking to do is get these funds out to 12 businesses out there,” McCord said.
Applications for the third phase of Clay County CARES Act grants will be accepted through Nov. 30.
