Clay County Amends Stay-At-Home Order to May 3

Clay County has rolled back its stay-at-home order from May 15 to May 3, despite Kansas City, Mo., and surrounding counties sticking with the original date.

A county order said: stay-at-home measures “have demonstrated having a measurable impact on reducing the number of cases of COVID-19 in Clay County’s jurisdiction.”

There have been 194 cases of COVID-19 in Clay County, according to its health department, 93 of them living in parts of the county in Kansas City. Two people have died in Clay County.

Kansas City Mayor Quinton Lucas accused county officials of giving into “political winds” instead of listening to health officials.

Clay County’s May 3 date is the same as the stay-at-home time frame put into place as Missouri Gov, Mike Parson.
