Though no action was taken on the measure yesterday by a city council committee, funding for a hotel in the former Federal Reserve Bank of Kansas City, at 925 Grand Blvd.
The current proposal, known as Grand Reserve, by developer Delta Quad Holdings would convert the historic building into a 284 room all-suite hotel, as well as replacing a previously proposed 85,000 square foot data center with a 40,000 square foot “Family Entertainment Center.” It would replace a proposal for a 24-room boutique hotel.
Councilman Eric Bunch is sponsoring an ordinance that would authorize $135 million in bonds for the project, which has a total projected cost of $182 million, as well as certain TIF incentives.
Delta Quad had previously proposed a 301-room Embassy Suites hotel for the site that was to be completed this month.
