Children’s Mercy Kansas City and Camber Mental Health will open a new $53 million mental wellness campus in December.
The Olathe-based mental health wellness center will be a 72,700-square-foot, 72-bed hospital focusing on the demand for inpatient pediatric and adult mental health treatment. The hospital located at 21277 W. 153rd St. will open on Dec. 2.
Last year, 4,000 children and teens visited the Children’s Mercy emergency room with behavioral health challenges. Of those, only 20% were hospitalized for inpatient mental health treatment.
Children’s Mercy Kansas City and Camber Mental Health, a nonprofit subsidiary of KVC Health Systems, first announced this joint venture in June 2023.
It will feature 48 pediatric beds, 24 adult beds, six interior and exterior courtyards, large dayrooms as well as dining and activity spaces. The hospital will be capable of caring for more than 3,400 clients annually and will create approximately 150 new jobs in the area.
