Carvana announced it would develop a new “megasite” in Kansas City and is expected to create around 200 jobs in the area.

The “megasite” will become Carvana’s first auction and reconditioning facility, bringing the company’s inspection and reconditioning center (IRC) capabilities to its existing ADESA Kansas City wholesale auction site in Belton.

The ADESA Kansas City facility will continue its all digital and in-lane auction operations. The addition of IRC capabilities will increase the selection of vehicles for customers and create a pool of retail inventory in a new metropolitan area. Kansas City will be the first of the ADESA’s 56 auction locations to become an auction-IRC Megasite.

Carvana is now hiring new associates for the facility and expects to create about 200 new entry-level and skilled manufacturing jobs, according to a release Monday.

“Integrating Carvana reconditioning with ADESA’s existing wholesale auction at the Kansas City ‘Megasite’ will offer greater selection and faster delivery speeds for local retail customers, enhance our auction offering for local commercial customers, and expand our footprint as an employer in the region by creating new jobs and training opportunities,” Carvana senior vice president of inventory, Brian Boyd said in the release.
