Bonner Springs, Kansas hopes to see construction begin for new moderate income housing next year after being awarded a grant from the Kansas Housing Resources Corporation.

Last week, Kansas Rep. Sharice Davids announced the Kansas Housing Resources Corporation awarded both Ottawa and Bonner Springs for the purpose of developing moderate-income housing for the respective communities.

Ottawa received $400,000 while Bonner Springs received $1,700,000.

The City of Bonner Springs plans to build a 100-unit apartment complex located at 120 Oak Street. The complex would scale 4 stories tall including 31 studios, 46 one-bedroom and 23 two-bedroom units. The parking lot will feature 97 on-site parking stalls.

The motion to approve the zoning request will take place on Tuesday during the Board of Zoning Appeals meeting at Bonner Spring’s City Hall.
