BlueScope Properties Group is requesting an industrial revenue bond to fund a 149,500-square-foot light industrial facility in the Great Plains Commerce Center.

BlueScope Properties Group (BPG) plans to build Building B, a 149,500-square-foot facility, sitting on an 11.27-acre parcel located at 15770 S Theden Street.

This would be BPG’s third building located in the industrial park. Building A, a 236,160-square-foot facility, has finished construction and Building C, a 140,490-square-foot facility, is still under development.

The City of Olathe has received an application for industrial revenue bonds totaling $16.25 million. Additionally, the request would have a 10-year, 50% property tax abatement. Olathe City Council menbers will vote on whether or not to approve the bond at a City Council meeting, on July 16.

The proposed facility would create around 100 new local jobs over the next 10 years with an average starting wage of $12 per hour for non-management staff.
