Blue KC makes investment, takes minority stake in Connecticut performance management company

The investment unit of not-for-profit health insurance provider has bought a minority stake in Connecticut-based Cedar Gate Technologies. This follows a partnership sealed between the two in January 2020.

Nearly a year after announcing their partnership, Blue KC has taken a minority stake in Connecticut health care performance management company, Cedar Gate Technologies.

The partnership announcement revealed in January 2020 was made to increase the insurer’s analytical capabilities and its value-based care initiatives.

Cobalt Ventures invested in Cedar Gate Technologies, but the for-profit investment unit of Blue KC did not disclose the amount invested or its stake in Cedar Gate.

Founded in 2014, Cedar Gate helps health care providers, payers and self-insured employers manage spending.

Cobalt Ventures invests in high-growth health care companies. Its portfolio includes nine other companies, including Rx Savings Solutions, Preferred Health Professionals and Bardavon Health Innovations of Overland Park.
