Overland Park-based Black & Veatch has named Paul Westerberg global manager of construction and executive vice president for the company’s growing construction division.

At Black & Veatch, Westerberg will oversee construction activities, employees, equipment, assets and capabilities globally while also continuing growth in the company’s engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) space.

Westerberg brings over 25 years of industry experience to his new role. He most recently served as vice president of strategic communications for Huston-based S&B Engineers and Constructors. Before that, he held several worldwide management positions at Bechtel National Inc., an EPC company.

“Black & Veatch has been a leading force at the forefront of building the world’s vital sustainable infrastructure, delivering innovation across a broad portfolio of client solutions with a world-class, uncompromising safety record that’s at the core of what we do,” Jennifer Divito, president of the BV Operations, said in a release Tuesday.

In 2013, Black & Veatch expanded its portfolio of services to meet rapidly increasing demand. The company experienced a recorded 24.5 million completed construction hours, up 8 million compared to the year before and an increase in its workforce by 17 percent to more than 12,000, according to the release.

Black & Veatch ranked No. 2 in Top Area Engineering Firms in The Power Book 2024 edition by Ingram’s. The Overland Park-based employee-owned firm reported earning $4.25 billion in 2022.
