Black & Veatch Names Katie Werner President of Subsidiary, Bird Electric

Black & Veatch announced that it has selected Katie Werner as president of its subsidiary, Bird Electric.

Werner will serve in her new role effective immediately. In her new role, Werner will be responsible for advancing electric infrastructure solutions that support clients, according to a release.

She bring weith her more than 25 years of experience under Black & Veatch to her new role. Most recently, she served as the leader of the public agencies & utilities segment for the company for over a year. Before that, Werner served in several other key leadership positions, including executive business manager and the chief of staff to the CEO, Mario Azar.

“Her leadership experience across engineering, operations and enterprise strategy, combined with her commitment to developing teams and serving clients, makes her exceptionally well suited to lead Bird Electric as it continues to grow and evolve,” Jim Moos, president of Black & Veatch’s Technology, Industrial & Governments, said in the release.

Werner earned her bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from the University of Mississippi.

Black & Veatch first acquired Bird Electric in May 2023, in an initiative to expand the company’s national reach in emergency power restoration. Headquartered in Eastland, Texas, Bird Electric has more than 600 employees and offers solutions in renewables, electric vehicle (EV) charging, and connectivity.
