The Texas-based convenience store chain Buc-ee’s might soon be sinking its teeth into the Kansas City market.
Buc-ee’s submitted a preliminary plat to the Unified Government of Wyandotte County and Kansas City, Kansas, outlining the layout and design of the potential location. The proposal is expected to go before the City Planning Commission on June 10.
The proposed location is at the northeast corner of 110th Street and Interstate 70, near the Legends Outlets and the Kansas Speedway.
Founded in 1982, Buc-ee’s operates 49 locations, including a location in Springfield, MO, in the U.S., according to the chain’s website. The average Buc-ee’s location employs around 200 people. The chain is famous for its beaver mascot, 100-plus gas pump and its assortment of road travel snacks.
The Springfield location opened in Dec. 2023, becoming the first site in Missouri.
