BATS Names New President

BATS Global Markets has tabbed former NASDAQ executive Chris Concannon as its new president, the company announced this morning.

Concannon, formerly executive vice president for transaction services at NASDAQ, will start his new role on Dec. 15, reporting  directly to CEO Joe Ratterman, BATS said in a news release. Concannon will work from the New York offices.

Ratterman credited Concannon with 15 years of service in the equities-trading sector, saying he had an “unparalleled track record as an exchange executive, trading customer and regulator.”

Concannon comes to BATS after five years with Virtu Financial, where he was president and CEO. At NASDA, he was responsible for U.S. stock and options markets and also led numerous acquisitions and integrations, the release said. He also has served on the  BATS Exchange board since 2012.
