Baker University named Dr. Jody Fournier as the university’s 31st president.

Baker partnered with NU Advisory Partners to conduct a nationwide search and unanimously voted for Fournier to take on the role, according to a release.

He will assume the position on July 1.

Fournier succeeds Hoot Gibson, who has served as acting president since October 2024. Gibson was appointed interim following Lynne Murray’s decision to step down in December 2024.

“I am deeply honored to join Baker University as its next president,” Fournier said. “Baker’s rich legacy, unwavering commitment to student success, and outstanding faculty and staff make this institution truly special. I look forward to building on its strong foundation, anchored in Baker’s United Methodist heritage, while embracing new opportunities, innovation, and collaboration to shape a bold and dynamic future.”
