Ash Grove Cement, the nation’s largest domestically owned cement manufacturer, announced today that Randall Vance had been designated as president and chief executive officer. Vance had previously served as president and chief operating officer under Charles Sunderland, a fourth-generation leader who remains chairman of the board. The move is effective immediately.
“Randy has demonstrated effective leadership for Ash Grove’s largest business of portland cement and has embraced our unique, successful corporate culture,” Sunderland in a news release announcing the transition “I look forward to Randy’s leadership now extending to the entire family of Ash Grove companies.”
The company operates eight cement plants, along with ready-mix, sand and gravel, quarry and packaging operations throughout the Midwest, South and West.
“I’m honored to be entrusted with this responsibility,” Vance said. “This year, Ash Grove celebrates 135 years in business. My goal is to continue our long-term focus on being the supplier of choice for quality cement and related construction materials. I am thankful for our team of talented, hard-working employees who make our organization so successful and look forward to new opportunities for growth in the future.”
Vance preivously held positions with Hostess Brands, Interstate Bakeries, Farmland Industries and Commerce Bank before joining Ash Grove in 2011 as chief financial officer and senior vice president of administration. He was promoted to president and COO in 2014.
