Applications being accepted for Kansas development grant

The Kansas Department of Commerce has announced that applications are open for the Community Development Block Grant, a program designed to support funding for low-income housing, sewer and water development projects.

Applications have opened for the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) program, the Kansas Department of Commerce announced this week.

Grants are to be used toward housing, sewer and water projects for lower-income communities in the state.

The grant program has been set up to primarily assist with funding community development and infrastructure projects as well as meet national objectives from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD).

Under HUD, the aim is to help with projects that benefit low and moderate-income households, improve areas with blight and to provide aid following disasters when no local funds are available in an area.

According to the release, applications for housing, water and sewer projects are due Sept. 25, while community facilities project applications are due Oct. 30.
