Five months of AMC theater closures have taken a toll on the movie theater chain, the Leawood-based company now planning to open their doors once again on Thursday, Aug. 20.
AMC plans to go all-out with its reopening by celebrating its 100th anniversary, making all movies 1920s-priced: 15 cents a ticket.
After Aug. 20, throwback movies will be priced at $5, including a special 10th anniversary of “Inception” event, “Black Panther,” “Back to the Future,” “Grease” and “Star Wars: Episode V – The Empire Strikes Back,” reports Fox 4 News. The theaters will also offer special $5 snack deals through October and AMC Stubs members will earn double points on all purchases.
Kansas City metro AMC theaters reopening next week include:
AMC Ward Parkway 14
AMC Independence 20
AMC Town Center 20
AMC Barrywoods 24
AMC DINE-IN Studio 28
Ticket availability will be limited to account for social distancing, AMC said, and theaters will continuously undergo enhanced cleaning procedures.
