AdventHealth Shawnee Mission Gets New CEO From South Overland Park Center

AdventHealth Shawnee Mission has appointed its new president and chief executive officer Alan Verrill, MD and will step into his new role later this month.

Effective February 25, Verrill will be the new President and CEO of Advent Health Shawnee Mission. He is transitioning from his role as president and CEO of AdventHealth South Overland Park, which opened in 2017, according to a release.

“I am grateful for my time with the incredible team at AdventHealth South Overland Park,” Verrill said in the release. “I look forward to serving in this new role and seeing our mission of whole person, compassionate care continue to grow across the Kansas City community and on our own campus with the opening of the new Cancer Institute.”

Verrill brings with him more than 25 years of healthcare experience. Before joining AdventHealth South Overland Park he served five years as the chief medical officer at AdventHealth Littleton in Colorado.

Verrill will report to Sam Huenergardt, regional president and CEO of AdventHealth Mid-America Region.

“With his background as a clinician, Alan is passionate about delivering high-quality, compassionate health care,” Huenergardt said. “He is a collaborator focused on building highly engaged teams built on trust and transparency. We are excited to have him join our leadership team at AdventHealth Shawnee Mission.”

AdventHealth South Overland Park announced Jimmy Bolanos as its next chief operating officer in January.
