ACT causes further frustration after registration website crashes following months of test cancellations

Months of preparation for the ACT test registration site resulted in upset students and parents when the page showed to be non-functioning, leaving some worried about the narrowing window of time students have to take the exam while in-person tests continue to be canceled.

Continued uncertainty surrounding COVID-19 has caused ACT to cancel tests, some of them last-minute, causing frustration for parents and students who spent time and money preparing.

Lora Leuzinger of Ohio spent five hours on the ACT site Monday to get her daughter registered for the college admissions test, reports USA Today.

Leuzinger had registered for the test four times, she told USA TODAY, but every time, it was canceled. Cancellations of the test began in March and have been canceled each month since.

Although some ACT tests continued at varied sites this summer, many testing centers closed because of rising COVID-19 cases, reports USA Today.

Further frustration was caused this week when the ACT opened registration for September and October tests last Monday, but shut down its registration site shortly after opening it “due to high demand.”

Following that months of preparation ACT had before reopening registration, the organization followed with a message saying it would have an update on Tuesday, only to say Tuesday morning it would have an update mid-day Wednesday.

Another mom, Deidre Appel, voiced concerns that there was “no prioritization for seniors who are running out of time,” reports USA Today.
