In the Kansas City area this Fourth of July weekend, three people were killed and two others were injured in three separate shootings, authorities in the metro report.
The first shooting happened in Kansas City, Mo. around 11:45 p.m. Saturday.
Kansas City, Missouri, police spokeswoman Officer Doaa El-Ashkar said officers responding to the shooting found an unresponsive man on the sidewalk. He died at the scene.
Two other men went to a hospital with gunshot wounds. Police believe they were injured in the same shooting.
Kansas City, Kan. police said two men died in separate shootings early Sunday morning, shortly before 2:30 a.m.
Officers found a man dead from a gunshot wound when they arrived.
Kansas City, Kansas, police spokesman Officer Jonathon Westbrook said a separate shooting was reported around 4:30 a.m. Sunday. Officers responding to that shooting also found a man dead from a gunshot wound.
A daily homicide analysis from the Kansas City Police Department in Missouri shows that homicides for the year 2020 have reached 99 on the Missouri side as of July 6. The analysis reports that 95 homicide cases were by means of firearm.
Although the report does not take into account the total number of homicides in the Kansas City area, the numbers reflect an increase in violence throughout the metro.
