$40 million in grant funds for remote learning support now available in Kansas

Grants and other resources to help support remote learning for young children have been opened through the Remote Learning Grant program, millions in funding to be administered through the Kansas Children’s Cabinet and Trust Fund for applicable programs and providers.

While remote learning remains present in many school districts across the region and nation, funding and additional resources have opened for this newer learning method.

Last week Kansas Gov. Laura Kelly announced that applications for grant funding through the state’s Remote Learning Grant program have opened.

Roughly $40 million in funding is to be administered through the Kansas Children’s Cabinet and Trust Fund, the funding intended to be used for support of remote learning for children, specifically to help address learning and supervision needs of school-age children who are not able to attend in-person school due to the pandemic, according to a news release from the governor’s office.

“Providing a safe place to learn is not only essential for a child’s development, but it will also play a critical role in strengthening our economy by allowing Kansas parents to continue working while kids are learning from home,” Kelly said in the release.

Eligible applicants for funding include school-age programs, KDHE-licensed childcare providers and other providers that can prove demonstrated experience and success in delivering quality, safe, care and education for school children.
