With an $18.3 million infusion from the state, the University of Missouri-Kansas City will spend $21.5 million to upgrade its primary biology and chemistry teaching labs, the first facelift for those facilities in nearly three decades.
The state money is aimed at improvements in the Spencer Chemistry Building and Biological Sciences Building, and is part of a $160 million chuck of bond funds designated for improvements at universities around the state. The Spencer building renovations, covering about 75,000 of lab space, are expected to be completed before the fall semester 2018.
