This Friday, December 16, Kansas City and Lee’s Summit representatives will gather at Lee’s Summit Airport for a ribbon-cutting, celebrating the completion of a $10.5 million improvement project long Lee’s Summit Road, which connects Kansas City to the Lee’s Summit Airport and the City of Independence.
The two-mile-plus stretch of improvements includes, bike lanes, street-lighting, 10-foot sidewalks, widened roadway, turning lanes, roadway alignment to improve sight distance, and a storm sewer system. Kansas City and Lee’s Summit split $4.7 million of project costs with the rest being paid for with federal funds.
