The scene is French Guiana, a region where on Christmas day the temperature has graciously dropped to 104 degrees. Honest Felix, a shopkeeper who extends credit to everyone and is exploited by all is about to be visited by his evil-minded cousin who is planning to take over the business and jilt his daughter for an heiress. But on Christmas Eve, three unlikely angels descend–literally–from above. Three convicts on a work-release program have been laboring on the roof and overhearing all the assorted crises below. Possessing every criminal art and penal grace, they set matters right and in doing so redeem themselves as real life angels to the grateful family.

Filmed as WE’RE NO ANGELS starring Humphrey Bogart, this heartwarming play has more than a few things to say about power, money, class, and innocence. Heroes are not always on the right side of the law and sometimes villains may be quite respectable.
