Coping with Covid: Metro, state and nationwide cases

The Kansas City metro saw no new COVID-19 deaths Sunday, keeping pace with an overall downward trend, though state and nationwide numbers show the virus continues to spread, primarily among the 18-24 age range.

New coronavirus data from over the weekend shows the Kansas City metro had a mild weekend with no new COVID-19-related deaths Sunday.

This data follows an overall downward trend in the death rate for both Missouri and Kansas.

While the death rate makes a slowdown in the region, new case rates reveal that the coronavirus continues to spread.

In Missouri and Kansas, new COVID-19 cases have been reported primarily among the 18-24 age range, according to the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services and Kansas Department of Health and Environment.

Since the start of the outbreak, Kansas City metro COVID-19 cases have reached 42,771, deaths 592.

Missouri COVID-19 data shows a total of 123,406 confirmed cases and 2,063 deaths, and 58,629 confirmed cases in Kansas and 637 deaths.

Nationally, Sept. 28 data from Johns Hopkins Hospital shows 7,116,456 cases of COVID-19 and 204,762 deaths in the U.S.
