On Friday, North Kansas City announced it is extending its current mask order into January 2021. The decision followed a similar announcement made by Kansas City, Mo. the week prior on Aug. 13.
The extended mask order for North Kansas City is set to expire Jan. 16, 2021 at 11:59 p.m. and will continue to require mask-wearing in any indoor public space, said Mayor Don Stielow.
In addition to the extension, Stielow said the amended order includes the prohibition of gatherings larger than 50 held on city-owned property.
The rule on gatherings exempts city-sponsored events where the city maintains control of the planning, organizing, supervising and carrying out of the event, according to the amended order.
Those expected to comply to the mask order are patrons and employees at venues and other public spaces, although patrons may remove masks while eating or drinking at a business, with social distancing.
Hearing impaired individuals, those with certain medical conditions and children are allowed to not wear masks.
