Coping with COVID: Kansas and Missouri update

Updates from the state health department in each state show total confirmed cases and deaths since the start of the outbreak, numbers revealing Johnson County to have the highest number of confirmed cases in Kansas.

As of Wednesday, the state of Kansas has 35,890 confirmed cases of COVID-19 and 411 deaths since the outbreak started, according to the Kansas Department of Health and Environment.

Kansas is only updating COVID-19 data on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays compared to Missouri, which has been updating numbers daily.

As of Thursday, the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services reports that 1,414 deaths have been attributed to COVID-19 statewide and that there are 70,675 confirmed cases since the outbreak started.

In the Kansas City metro, Johnson County shows to have the most confirmed cases in the state of Kansas with 6,788. In Missouri, St. Louis County hold the highest number of cases in the state with 16,565.

Neither Kansas nor Missouri list how many people have recovered from COVID-19, although in Kansas those numbers are being tracked on a smaller scale by local health departments.
