Kansas City area competes to be new headquarters for U.S. Space Command



Cities in 27 other states are vying to land the spot of serving as home base for the military headquarters, among those cities are included St. Louis and nearby St. Joseph.

An effort has been brought forward to build a new headquarters for the U.S. Space Command, Kansas City and a couple other cities in Missouri hoping to land the title.

The Missouri push for the military headquarters could put the new command station in either Kansas City, St. Joseph or St. Louis, reports Fox 4 News.

A total of 27 states are competing to land the spot of serving as home base for the estimated 1,400 military and civilian personnel who will work at the U.S. Space Command.

According to a recent weekly update from the Missouri Military Preparedness and Enhancement Commission, the Air Force has requested more detailed proposals from Kansas City, St. Joseph and St. Louis, reports Fox 4 News.

The deadline is Aug. 31, though a decision isn’t expected until after the November election.
