Big 12 to continue with fall football season

On Wednesday, the conference board of directors announced that the fall football season will continue, although with a delayed start and revised schedule.

Plans to move forward will continue for the Big 12, the conference board of directors announcing Wednesday that the season will not be canceled, although it will have a delayed start and a revised schedule.

The board of directors met on Tuesday to discuss the season after other conferences like the Big 10 and Pac-12 made announcements that the fall 2020 sports season would be canceled, postponing their seasons until 2021.

“Our student-athletes want to compete, and it is the board’s collective opinion that sports can be conducted safely and in concert with the best interests of their well-being,” Big 12 board of directors chairman and TCU chancellor Victor Boschini said.

The revised schedule for Big 12 teams lists that the season will begin Sept. 26 and that teams will still play their “9-plus-1″ schedules with nine conference games and one nonconference game. Dates for the championship game are currently saved for either Dec. 12 or Dec. 19.
