More encouraging news on the regional COVID-19 metric front: Missouri and Kansas, between Saturday and Tuesday of this week, have seen fewer new cases reported than any prior four-day period since the outbreak gathered steam in mid-March.
According to figures from the Kansas Department of Health and Environment today, the state saw 121 new cases between Saturday and Tuesday: 29 on Saturday, 22 on Sunday, 39 on Monday and 31 on Tuesday. Not since March 12-15, which had 112 total cases, has the count been that low.
Missouri, likewise hit a four-day low, but the latest figures from the Department of Health and Senior Services cover last Thursday through Sunday. The state had 360 new cases diagnosed, the lowest since 322 new cases showed up at almost the same time as the Kansas surge—March 13-16.
